Bio

Mr. Zwerling, a co-founding partner of Zwerling Schachter, has over forty years of legal experience in civil litigation, real estate, general corporate and commercial matters.

Mr. Zwerling is proficient in all phases of complex class action litigation. He has been the lead attorney in jury and non-jury trials, mediations, expert discovery, and settlement negotiations. Mr. Zwerling has negotiated several innovative corporate governance and structural changes in the resolution of shareholders' lawsuits.

He has been and is lead counsel or a member of an executive committee in many complex cases including: In re: Stanford Financial Group Inc. Securities Litigation, Civ. No. 3:09-cv-20487-N (N.D. Tex.), a securities fraud class action involving purchasers of certificates of deposit through Stanford International Bank, Ltd., alleged to be a multi-billion dollar international Ponzi scheme; In re: First BanCorp Securities Litigation, Civ. No. 3:05-cv-02148-GAG (D.P.R.), a securities fraud class action involving alleged sham mortgage sales transactions among banks in Puerto Rico in which a $74.25 million settlement was achieved in less than eighteen months of litigation; Hayman v. PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP, 01-CV-1078, (N.D. Ohio), a securities fraud class action brought on behalf of investors in Telxon Corp. against the company and the company’s auditors for issuing false opinions on the company’s financial statements. Following an unprecedented recommendation for a default judgment against PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP based on discovery misconduct involving electronic audit work papers, the auditor case settled for an additional $27.9 million.
