Grant uniquely combines over 25 years of patent prosecution experience with extensive IP litigation and trial experience.

Twice in a decade, Grant formed part of a trial team that litigated patents he helped clients obtain before a jury, each of which found the patents in suit valid and willfully infringed, resulting in enhanced jury awards. Both of these decisions (along with related USPTO proceedings), were upheld on every issue at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. The outcome of one of those cases represents the largest patent infringement damages award to date in Utah.

Companies that seek to add value to their IP assets entrust Grant with their patent and trademark portfolios and seek his counsel relative to either side of enforcement actions. He manages significant IP portfolios for major clients across the medical devices, outdoor sporting goods products, technology, and food processing industries, among others.

Grant is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and has handled numerous cases before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences, and the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. He has also completed his AAA Mediation Training and now mediates IP-focused cases. He serves as a neutral panel member of Utah ADR Services.
