Bio

Philip B. Davis is a 1978 graduate of the University of New Mexico School of Law. A former law clerk to United States District Judge E.L. Mechem, he has been in private practice in Albuquerque since 1981, representing mostly plaintiffs in hundreds of civil rights and related cases involving police misconduct, employment and first amendment retaliation, whistleblower and race, age and gender discrimination claims, and systemic cases addressing conditions in jails, prisons and facilities housing persons with developmental disabilities. Mr. Davis also has been retained to represent other lawyers in nearly one hundred attorneys’ fee matters. In addition, he now serves regularly as a mediator and an arbitrator in a wide array of civil rights, personal injury and employment cases. Mr. Davis has an AV-Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell, has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America® for more than twenty years and was named Best Lawyers’ 2016 New Mexico Lawyer of the Year in the area of First Amendment Litigation.
