Bio

Reginald K.T. Yee
Mr. Yee served as a Deputy Attorney General, State of Hawaii (“DAG”) assigned to the Tort Litigation Division for a period of approximately five years before joining Clay Chapman Iwamura Pulice & Nervell in February 2009. Prior to that, he was a Senior Trial Attorney for American International Group, Inc. Staff Counsel’s office located in Honolulu for three and a half years defending AIG insureds primarily on automobile lawsuits. He has tried two civil jury trials to verdict as an AIG Staff Counsel. He also worked as a Senior Trial Attorney and Deputy Public Defender for the State of Hawaii, Office of the Public Defender for approximately 17 years handling 50 felony jury trials. He has handled numerous non-jury trials both in criminal and civil cases.  He has also handled workers compensation cases for employer/carriers both in private practice and the State, in separate capacities, in Special Compensation Fund cases, again as a DAG. He has also handled family law cases in a general practice initially out of law school. He passed the Hawaii State Bar in 1978 and is a graduate of the William S. Richardson School of Law in that same year.

Mr. Yee has served as treasurer (2008/2009) with the Hawaii State Bar Association, Government Lawyers Section (“GLS”) and prior to that served as a Board of Director (2006/2007), again with the GLS. He has also served as a co-Vice Chair of the American Bar Association, Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section, Committees for Trial Techniques (2004 to 2014) and Automobile Law (2008/2009). He also serves as a Board Member of the Collection Law Section of the Hawaii State Bar Association  ( 2014 /2017).  He is a Board Member of the Access to Justice Committee on Initiatives to Enhance Civil Justice (2016/2017). He has co-authored an article for the Automobile Law Committee on the “The Black Box” in Spring, 2008. He has also written an article entitled “Jury Selection: Your Trial is a Week Away, Now What?” for the Trial Techniques Committee in Summer, 2010. He has been included on the list of Top 100 Attorneys of the National Trial Lawyers, Civil Plaintiff, 2016. He has also served as a CAAP arbitrator in Honolulu.
