Bio

For over 25 years, Mr. Sharp has specialized in complex civil litigation. His specialties include insurance bad faith case against some of the largest insurance companies in the country, complex or mass tort personal injury claims, and health care litigation against managed care companies, hospitals and health care providers. From 2008 through 2014, Mr. Sharp had been involved as one of the lead counsel in cases arising from the largest Hepatitis C outbreak in the State of Nevada. Mr. Sharp’s work on the Hepatitis C cases helped result in the seventh largest verdict in the United States in 2011. In addition, Mr. Sharp was a lead counsel on the landmark Nevada Supreme Court case, Munda v. Summerlin, 267 P.3d 771 (Nev. 2011) concerning ERISA preemption and liability of a managed care organization for the wrongful conduct of its providers. In 2014, Mr. Sharp was co-counsel in the case of Martin v. PacifiCare where an HMO was found liable for the negligence in referring members to an unsafe medical provider. Martin is one of the first cases in the country where an HMO was held responsible for the negligence of a doctor who was not employed by an HMO. Mr. Sharp has also been involved in class action litigation. He was co-lead counsel in McCreary v. Aetna, 3:08-CV-00654-LRH-RAM. This was a national class action arising from Aetna’s payment of life insurance claims and concerning allegations of breach of fiduciary duties under ERISA. The case resulted in a court approved settlement. In 2012 through 2015, Mr. Sharp was involved as a lead counsel in mass tort settlements arising from one of the largest Hepatitis C outbreak in the history of the United States. The defendants included Teva Pharmaceuticals and United Health Care. In 2012 through 2015, Mr. Sharp was involved in litigation arising from the 2011 accident at the Reno Air Races. He filed lawsuits on behalf of many clients who were seriously injured due to the accident at the Reno Air Races. Claims against the Reno Air Races have been resolved favorably through settlement. In addition, Mr.Sharp was named trial lawyer of year by the Nevada Justice Association in 2011. He was the president of the Nevada Justice Association in 2003 and 2006. Mr. Sharp currently serves as one of two Nevada representatives for the board of governors for American Association for Justice, formerly known as the American Trial Lawyers Association. Mr. Sharp is a member of the Board of Governors of the Nevada Justice Associaiton. Mr. Sharp is also a member of the American Association for Justice’s Leaders Forum, a group consisting of some of the best plaintiff trial lawyers in the United States.
