Bio

Harold E. Trask

Born in Wilmington, North Carolina; grew up in Beaufort, South Carolina. Admitted to the North Carolina Bar (1972) and the South Carolina Bar (1974). Education:  University of the South (B.A. in Political Science 1968); University of South Carolina School of Law (J.D., 1972); Certified Civil Court Mediator, SC Bar, 2010.

Awards: Rated AV Pre-eminent by Martindale-Hubble, signifying that Mr. Trask has “reached the height of professional excellence … and is recognized for the highest levels of skill and integrity.” Recognized  for over 30 years as one of the best lawyers in America and as Lawyer of the Year  in the 2013 edition of Best Lawyers in America (workers’ compensation defense section, South Carolina); awarded the South Carolina Order of the Palmetto, the highest award that can be bestowed upon a civilian by the state. Experience:  Over forty years of practice in defense of workers’ compensation claims; past Chairman of Workers’ Compensation Commission; numerous speeches and presentations to various organizations including the SC Workers’ Compensation Educational Association, self-insured groups, and employers’ associations in regard to workers’ compensation issues; South Carolina Workers’ Compensation Committee on Practice and Procedures, 1986-1990; Board of Directors of South Carolina Workers’ Compensation Commission Educational Association, 1985-1993. Public Service: past Executive Assistant for Legal Affairs to Governor James Edwards; past member of Board of Directors of the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce.  Strong supporter of The Lamb Institute, a Christian Children’s Home in Honduras, World Vision, and Life Outreach; Board of Directors, One World Health, providing medical treatment to the poor in Uganda and Nicaragua; past Board Member of Charleston Habitat for Humanity; past member of the South Carolina Boundary Commission; South Carolina Bar Association (Workers’ Compensation Section); Charleston County Bar Association; North Carolina State Bar (inactive); and served six years in US Army Reserves.
